Snowman Highs and Lows

Tricky conditions on the opening round led to mixed results for car club crews yesterday.

Andrew Gallagher & Jane Nicol won the event by 6 seconds from Quintin Milne & Sean Donnelly (mind that membership!)

John Wink & John Forrest set great times on route to 6th place and top SRC challenger. Bruce McCombie & Michael Coutts had to settle for 7th after a puncture. Michael Hendry co drive Mark McCulloch to 12th after suffering from a misfire and Steering issue in their R5 debut.

Second rally and 27th overall plus 1st in Subaru Cup for Brett Mckenzie & Lauren Murray. An excellent 18th fastest through Rogie too! Martin Crombie & David Law were 33rd and 1st in class 6 in a 306.

Colin Patterson & Gary Clark overcame brake issues to finish 36th in the Escort. Kevin Crawford & Claire Martin were 38th in the EVO. Scott Burness & Jodi Devine were 41st and second in class with the Fiesta. Ronnie & Paul Horne were 45th with the Subaru. Scott McDonald overcame issues in the Nova to take 53rd.

Unfortunately the condition meant a few off road excursions with Barry Groudwater/Neil Shanks, Scott Mccombie plus Scott Macbeth/Daniel Forsyth all going off, the C2 had been 16th at the time!

Brian Ross retired with mechanical problems, sandy & Ian Arbuthnott made it to the last stage before electrical problems. Kenny Foggo retired on SS1 co driving for Michael Renton. Ian & Sandy Milne retired in the Escort.

Thanks to all at Highland Car Club for a good event, thanks to all 63 Car Club Marshal’s. The SRC now heads south to the Borders before the Speyside Stages on 21st April!

After last nights AGM the club have decided to look at running an Autocross again after an absence of 20 years. Some club members will remember these from years gone by but for those who don’t know what they are an Autocross is a timed race around a track set out in a field, 2 cars are on the course at one time but the overall results are worked out on time rather than the finishing position.

It’s in its very early stages at the moment but we are planning running it on Sunday 23rd of September.

Who’s up for it??
